Method
- Start by crumbling the store-bought cake into a large mixing bowl until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the buttercream frosting to the cake crumbs and mix thoroughly until the mixture holds together when pressed, forming a dough-like consistency.
- Scoop out about a tablespoon of the mixture and roll it between your palms to form an even, round sphere. Place each sphere onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Insert a food-safe cake pop stick into each sphere, pushing it halfway through. Chill the cake pops in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up.
- Meanwhile, melt the candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring each time until smooth. Once melted, prepare separate bowls with colored food gels to create realistic eyeball details.
- Dip each chilled cake pop into the melted candy, swirling gently to coat evenly. Tap off excess and place the coated cake pop onto a clean parchment-lined tray or floral foam to set.
- Use small brushes or toothpicks dipped in food coloring to add realistic eyeball details like veins, iris patterns, and pupils on the coated spheres. Allow the decorations to dry completely.
- Place the finished Monster Eyeball Cake Pops on a serving platter or in a decorated foam block for a spooky presentation. They’re ready to serve and go perfectly with other Halloween treats!
Notes
Keep the cake pops refrigerated until ready to serve to maintain their shape and shine. Feel free to experiment with different eyeball designs for extra creepiness.
