Ingredients
  

  • 1 package package of pre-made puff pastry or crescent roll dough thawed if frozen
  • 4 hot dogs hot dogs
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix
  • 1 egg egg beaten, for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon water for egg wash

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface and cut it into strips approximately 1/2 inch wide and 4 inches long.
  3. Wrap each hot dog tightly with two or three strips of dough, leaving some space at the top to resemble a mummy's head, and slightly overlapping the strips for a bandaged look.
  4. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  5. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg mixed with water to give it a shiny, golden finish once baked.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove from the oven and sprinkle grated cheese over the top of each mummy, allowing it to melt slightly from the residual heat.

Notes

For extra spookiness, add small olive pieces or black sesame seeds as eyes before baking.
