  • 1 oz orange liqueur such as Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice about one lime
  • 1 tsp activated charcoal powder or black food coloring as alternative
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup adjust to taste
  • additional salt or black sugar for rim for rimming the glass

Method
 

  1. Prepare your glasses by rimming the edges with lime juice and dipping them into black salt or sugar for a striking effect.
  2. Add tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, activated charcoal, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and secure the lid tightly.
  4. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly frothy.
  5. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass, ensuring a smooth, dark liquid flows in.
  6. Garnish with a lime wheel or a spooky straw for a dramatic presentation.

Notes

For added spooky effect, rim the glasses with black sugar or edible glitter. Adjust sweetness by varying the simple syrup amount.
